How to learn anything with ChatGPT

The most effective way to learn anything!

Hello,

In this week's newsletter, I want to share a very helpful technique with you. How to learn new skills with ChatGPT effectively and fast. If you master the things that I will show you, learning will feel very effortless and fun. Enjoy the reading!

So that you can get an idea of what the best way to learn something new with ChatGPT is, I will use an example skill. I think the skill programming would be a good fit, because it is complex and hard to learn for a beginner, and it requires ChatGPT to make it beginner-friendly and boil down the topic to a level that everybody can understand.

Before you can execute the first step, it’s crucial to understand a curtain principle. The principle I’m talking about is the “Pareto” principle (aka. The 80/20 rule). It works like this: 80% of the effects comes from 20% of the causes. To make this a bit clearer, I will use the example skill we want to learn, programming. Let’s say you want to learn the programming language Java and you separate it into 10 different topics you want to learn. According to the Pareto principle, 20% (2) of those topics will have 80% of the practical applications. But why is that important? We can just tell ChatGPT to pick out the topics that will have the biggest

(80%) practical use cases.

Here is an example how I would approach that if I wanted to learn the Java programming language.

I am familiar with the concepts of programming and ChatGPT was really accurate here. ChatGPT actually listed the topics that are most important to learn.

So now you know what you have to learn, but how do you go about that in the most efficient way? In my opinion, the best way to learn something is with a study schedule. The reason why I recommend creating a study schedule is because it helps you to stay consistent, and it is assuring that you’ll learn the skill as fast as possible. Instead of creating that all by yourself, just let ChatGPT do the heavy lifting. You can use a prompt that looks something like this:

Now, you’ve also got a schedule that you can follow. I would advise you to screenshot the schedule so that you can access it from your image gallery or something like that.

But from what resources should you learn. You’ve probably guessed it by now. You can just ask ChatGPT for them. Just ask to provide a bunch of learning resources based on the schedule it has given you. If you want to fine tune that process, you can tell ChatGPT to only provide resources that match your specific learning style. For example, I’m a visual learner. That means that I can understand and learn things way better, if I have a picture or a diagram in front of me. Here is an example of how that could look like if you are a visual learner:

Now you have the prefect foundation if you want to learn something. You have a schedule that you can follow, which is tailored to your needs, and you have the learning material to actually learn the thing.

Now, let’s say you’ve finished learning the things ChatGPT gave you. What is missing? Practice! So that a skill stays in your brain, there is no other way but to practice. And ChatGPT is your perfect practice companion. You can just simply ask for practice problems or project ideas.

I hope that this technique will help you learn something faster. And always remember: You can customize every step I just showed you. This article should just act as inspiration so that you can apply it to any skill you want to learn.

I’ll see you next Friday!
